Monsoon Ordeal and 'us' Delhiites!!

On the quieter streets of Delhi, after a downpour, it is only silence that breaks the barriers of sound. Nothing else can comprehend the arrival of the season that is long awaited, than to soak into the weather or enjoy the
pleasurable evenings that remain always wanted. These evenings are rare to an extent that no one seems to enjoy the long scorching heat of the sun. It sure is a welcome respite. This is what leads more or less for people to
realize that finally monsoons have arrived. No matter what, people tend to observe the season with panache and show a passion to live every breath they take unto the last moment of the deserted land turning green.

'Ah! What A Relief', the feeling that touches every heart and soul of the city, following this very occurrence anytime during the 8-month long ordeal of so-to-say Summer. Perhaps, it is this very moment, that quenches the
thirst of a million lives and keeps the city going on and on without falling apart owing to the hot and not-so-nice weather.

To enjoy every moment of the respite brought about by the falling drops, people come out of their homes and relive every ounce of the fresh air and aroma of the wet earth, described as the sweetest scent on Earth(reference
to Anita Desai's 'Games at Twilight'). It is even a great pleasure to soak oneself into this aroma. This trend, though seems to having been there for a long time, is seeming to change as for the past three years, there has
been more than the normal amount of rainfall, at least in the summer months. Do not talk about the
rainy months, as the situation seems to have reversed.

'Something is better than nothing', that is what we have been taught since childhood, but no-one ever said anything about that something. How do you define that something, and how much is that something. Should we ask for something only when we have anything or nothing. It is ironical that people living in Delhi seem to be bothered about those potholes getting filled up, but none of them is ready to suggest a possible and viable solution, even if some want they cannot voice their opinion, just because of lack of communication between the common man and the government local bodies, or so to say.

What everyone wants is development, whether be it great apartments with open spaces outside, most of which is 'pucca' floors. They don't want any muddy ground. This is where lies the real cause for the water overflowing from the drains during mild rains. Though people tend to oversee it, but they cannot deny this fact. The fact that they have cemented each and every inch of the Earth and that this has worsened the situation.

Not only this, the ever-increasing traffic has worsened the situation। Cars moving at snail's place during these days, when there are traffic bound to occur at even major intersections. The jams create a havoc in terms of the time people spend on the roads, the amount of fuel being wasted during the course and also the rising fury and rage of the common man becoming a common sight on the roads.

Situations, arising out of such inadvertent developmental needs, such as non-restoration of ground water, trees falling apart, and so on...

Let us make this world, oh sorry, our localities a better place to live, ..., and the world should follow.
